Anthropic Reportedly Explored $7 Billion MatX Acquisition As AI Lab Accelerates Custom Chip Push

Anthropic is eyeing "training chips"? It was revealed that it once planned to acquire AI chip company MatX for 7 billion US dollars.

Anthropic planned, then abandoned $7 billion purchase of MatX, sources say

Anthropic in talks with chip start up MatX to speed up chip design: Sources

Technical Recruiter

MatX builds AI infrastructure at the intersection of hardware and software to make AI models run more efficiently. The Technical Recruiter will own key stages of full-cycle recruiting, develop strategies for hiring specialized technical talent, build candidate pipelines, and provide data-driven hiring updates to leadership.

Recruiting Coordinator

MatX is seeking a Recruiting Coordinator to support and organize its hiring process. The role manages interview scheduling, candidate communication, recruiting systems, feedback tracking, and recruiting initiatives while helping deliver a responsive candidate experience.

Senior/Staff Emulation Engineer

MatX is building vertically integrated hardware and software solutions for training and running large machine-learning workloads for AGI. The company is seeking a Senior/Staff Emulation Engineer to develop emulation infrastructure, flows, and debugging methodologies for advanced connectivity SoCs, spanning RTL, software, firmware, simulation, and post-silicon validation.

Emulation Engineer

AI Chip Architect

MatX designs vertically integrated hardware and software solutions for training and running large AI models, including high-performance GenAI silicon. The AI Chip Architect will define compute architecture for next-generation AI accelerators, analyze performance, make power-area-performance tradeoffs, and collaborate with research, software, and hardware teams through silicon bring-up and debugging.

Formal Verification Engineer

MatX builds a full-stack AI technology platform spanning silicon, rack design, compilers, kernels, and machine learning models. The Formal Verification Engineer will provide rigorous mathematical guarantees across hardware and software by applying model checking, developing machine-checked compiler proofs, embedding hardware and simulator models into interactive theorem provers, and driving formal verification methodologies.

Rust SW-Silicon Co-verification Engineer

MatX is building high-performance and sustainable silicon for generative AI. The Rust SW-Silicon Co-verification Engineer will develop Rust tests, infrastructure, and hardware-connected harnesses to verify that software models and hardware designs conform to each other and their specifications, including through corner-case and randomized testing.

Runtime Engineer

MatX is building custom silicon for large-language-model inference and training through hardware/software co-design across the ISA, RTL, simulator, compiler, and kernels. The Runtime Engineer will build the host-side runtime, executable formats, custom-kernel ABI, Python bindings, LLM inference serving stack, interconnect orchestration, and profiling and debugging interfaces.

People Operations Associate

MatX develops AI models and high-performance, sustainable silicon for generative AI. The People Operations Associate will support tactical People Team operations, including HRIS management, benefits, payroll, onboarding and offboarding, employee support, analytics, policies, and vendor management. The role will also help coordinate culture events and improve People Team practices as the company grows.

Infrastructure Engineer, AI Tooling

MatX builds custom silicon and supporting software to make the world's best AI models run more efficiently. The Infrastructure Engineer, AI Tooling will build infrastructure that helps coding agents work safely and effectively across the company's stack, including agent identities, isolated execution environments, and a company-wide knowledge base for agent context.

Lead Software Engineer, Kernels

MatX is building vertically integrated full-stack compute solutions for AGI, spanning silicon to systems for training and running large ML workloads. They are seeking a hands-on engineering TLM to lead the Kernel team, manage and mentor kernel engineers, and design high-performance compute kernels for specialized AI hardware while partnering with ML and hardware teams.
